The short version

I’m Out of Shape works without an account. Your workouts, records and streaks stay on your phone unless you sign in to back them up.

I’m Out of Shape never collects your location, contacts, photos, microphone, or the positions of your fingers on the screen, and never sells your data.

Without an account

Everything you record — workouts of every move, goals, challenges, circuits and settings — is stored only on your phone.

Free users see an ad after some workouts. Google AdMob receives the ad request, and, where the law requires it, only after you have given consent. Your workouts are never used for advertising.

With an account

Signing in with Apple, Google or an email code creates an account with your email address (Apple may give I’m Out of Shape a private relay address instead).

Your workouts, settings, goals, challenges, saved circuits and a record of each circuit you start are backed up so they follow you to your other devices. Our database runs on Supabase.

If the app hits an error, it sends a report with the error message, the app version, the phone’s platform and the screen it happened on. Email addresses and ids are removed first. Reports are kept for 90 days.

Friends, leaderboards and contests

These are optional. If you use them, the display name you choose, your friend code and your workout totals for each board are visible to your friends and to people in the same contest.

You appear on a leaderboard for everyone only if you turn that on, and you can hide yourself at any time.

Usage and feedback

If you turn on Share usage (Settings → Your Data; it starts off), I’m Out of Shape records which screens and features you use, such as starting a workout or opening the paywall, with your app version and platform, and sends them while you’re signed in. It never includes what your workouts contain or anything you type. Turn it off at any time and nothing waiting is sent.

If you send feedback, I’m Out of Shape receives your message, the app version, your phone model and system, and an email address for a reply if you give one.

Purchases

Premium and Remove Ads are bought through the App Store or Google Play. RevenueCat handles the receipts so your purchase works on every device you sign in to. I’m Out of Shape never sees your payment details.

Apple Health and Health Connect

If you turn on saving to Apple Health or Health Connect, I’m Out of Shape writes your workouts there on your phone and reads your heart rate for the result screen. That health data never leaves your phone for I’m Out of Shape’s servers, and is never used for advertising or sold.

If you turn on estimated calories (Settings → Calories), the weight you enter stays on your phone and is never sent anywhere. I’m Out of Shape shows the estimate in the app and, with saving on, writes it to Apple Health or Health Connect with each workout.

Your choices

Export your history as a spreadsheet (Settings → Your Data). Hold a workout in History to delete it everywhere. Delete your history on this phone, sign out, or delete your account and every copy in the cloud (Settings → Account → Delete Account).

Where consent rules apply, change your ad choices at any time in Settings → Ad Privacy Choices. Premium or Remove Ads stops ad requests altogether.

How long data is kept

Backed-up data is kept until you delete it or delete your account; deleting the account removes it within minutes. Error reports are deleted after 90 days and usage events after 180 days.

Children

I’m Out of Shape is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law requires) and does not knowingly collect their data.

Security

Data travels over encrypted connections. Your sign-in is kept in your phone’s secure storage. Each account can read only its own data, and only public keys are built into the app.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will tell you before the change applies.
